  • Sony’s God of War is the newest game to become a movie.
    • Universal Pictures have picked up the rights to make a movie of the game.
    • Charles Roven, producer of Batman Begins along with Alex Gartner of Mosiac Media will produce the film.
    • No director or cast have been announced.
  • Fox picks up the rights to make a movie based off the Hitman franchise. Movies_01
    • Agent 47 will be played by Vin Diesel.
    • Charles Gordon (Die Hard) and Adrian Askarieh (Spy Hunter) will produce the movie.
    • No director or other cast has yet been selected.
    • Expected Release date is late 2006 or 2007.
  • Halo deal, on the edge of being made.
    • Universal Pictures may partner with 20th Century Fox to bring the big name game to the silver screen.
    • Both companies are in final negotiations with Microsoft.
    • The script was written by Alex Garland, the writer of 28 Days Later.
    • If the deal goes through, the most likely release date will be in 2007.
  • Universal picks up American McGee’s Alice.
    • Sara Michelle Gellar is rumored to have signed on to be the star.
    • This movie is not yet in production.
  • Max Payne will be brought to you by 20th Century Fox.
    • 20th Century Fox has apparently aquired the rights to make a trilogy of movies based off the Max Payne games.
    • Tentatively scheduled for a 2007 release.
  • Psi-Ops picked up by producers of the upcoming Spy Hunter movie.
    • The movie will follow secret agent Nick Scryer as he is sent in to infiltrate a shadowy psychic terrorist organization.
    • It will be produced by Adrian Askarieh and Chuck Gordon of Universal Pictures, however, the movie has yet to bee picked up by a studio and still has no cast or director.
  • Metroid Prime is a future possibility but as of now, is NOT in production.
    • It was widely rumored that a movie rendition of Metroid Prime was already in production.
      • Those rumors turned out to be false.
    • It is true that John Woo has optioned the rights to negotiate with Nintendo to make a movie of the game title.
    • But at this time there are no plans to begin production.
  • Dead or Alive coming to theaters in 2006.
    • Directed by well known Hong Kong director Corey Yuen.
    • Filming began in June.
    • The movie will even feature a beach-volleyball scene to recognize DOA: Extreme Beach Volleyball.
  • Far Cry is yet another movie grabbed by German movie maker Uwe Boll.
    • The movie will be about Jack Carver a retired Special Forces Officer who now runs a transport ship. On a trip to some old Japanese WW2 bases on some Micronesian islands his boat gets destroyed and must survive and find out what is happening on the dark and mysterious islands.
    • A cast and director are not yet known.
    • The movie is expected to be out in 2006.
  • Rainbow Six will be directed by John Woo.
    • John Woo signed a deal with Paramount to direct an action blockbuster based on the Tom Clancy Rainbow Six franchise.
    • The movie is actually based on the 1998 novel Rainbow Six.
      • However, both the novel and the game were developed concurrently, so the game features the same primary characters: John Clark and Domingo “Ding” Chavez.
      • Clark and Chavez have already appeared in other Clancy movies such as Training Day, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears.
  • BloodRayne could arrive in 2005. Movies_02
    • Rights were bought by the German movie production company Boll KG.
      • This is the same company that made House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark.
      • Unfortunately, those movies did not fare well.
    • The movie will be produced and directed by Uwe Boll.
    • The film’s screenplay is being written by Guinevere Turner who also wrote American Psycho.
    • The lead role of BloodRayne will go to Terminator 3 star Kristanna Loken.
    • Oscar winner Ben Kingsley will play BloodRayne’s father (the main bad guy), vampire overloard Kagan.
    • Michelle Rodriguez will play the leader of a chapter of the secret organization Brimstone Society.
      • She also appeared as an actress in Resident Evil and has done numerous games like Driv3r.
    • Also from Driv3r, Michael Madsen will play Vladimir, a celebrated vampire hunter.
    • Blue Crush co-star Matt Davis will play Vladimir’s partner Sebastian.
      • The film is scheduled for release in late 2005.
  • Spy Hunter one of two game based movies to star The Rock
    • The Rock will play Alec Sects, an ex-fighter pilot recruited to join a secret government called the “Spy Hunters”.
      • “Spy Hunters” drive experimental super-cars which like a James Bond flick, will have all sorts of high-tech weaponry and state-of-the-art countermeasures.
    • John Woo originally was set to direct the adaptation of the classic Midway arcade game, but it is now rumored that he will not be doing the project.
    • Also, the movie is undergoing a re-write, by Stewart Beattie writer of Collateral, and credited on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
    • The movie is expected to make it’s way into theaters in early 2006.
  • Doom the movie is almost here. GameMovies_03
    • Universal Pictures is bringing the popular gaming franchise to the big screen.
    • The movie will star The Rock and Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, and The Bourne Supremacy)
    • Doom is being directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak (Cradle 2 the Grave, and Exit Wounds)
    • Much of the storyline will come from Doom 3.
    • The movie is scheduled to be released October 21st.
