New Features For Xbox Live

  • New organization to reduce clutter.
  • Many new categories will be added.
    • Games
    • Media and Entertainment
    • Demos and Game Videos
    • Theme and Gamer Pictures
  • Each category will also have sub menus such as
    • New Releases
    • Browsing All Content.
  • On the marketplace screen users will also have the ability to: XboxLive2006
    • Redeem Codes
    • Enter Active Downloads
    • Enter Account Management.
  • One of the best new features coming involves content downloads
    • You will now be able to download in the background.
    • Not only that, you will be able to manage six downloads at a time.
      • They’ll only download one at a time, but you can queue up six and pause and resume any of them at will.
    • So now you can download all those E3 Videos while you’re still trying to conquer Oblivion.
  • Themes will also be easier to manage with the ability to apply a theme immediately after downloading.
  • The DVD player will remember where you left off in a movie.
    • So if your little brother accidentally turns the power off or you remove the movie to play a game, you’ll be able to resume right where you left off.
  • Music will now play the entire time after it’s turned on.
    • In other words, the music will continue to play if it’s playing when you launch a game, instead of turning off like it used to.
  • Finally, Microsoft will give the users boot options.
    • You will now be able to set the console to boot into a game or directly to the dashboard.
    • This is a good change for those who like to mostly play Xbox Live Arcade.
  • No specific release date has been set, but it should be available sometime next week.
