Story

  • Halo 2 can be described as one of the greatest sequels to a game.
  • It is a first person shooter that takes you on a mission to save the human race from the threat of the Covenant who wants to avenge the destruction of a Holy sacred ring called Halo. Halo2_01
  • You play as Spartan-117, or Master Chief who is a member of the Spartan II project.
    • The Spartan II project is a secret military project to create cyborg super-soldiers.
  • Master Chief is a genetically, biologically, and technically enhanced fighting unit.
  • He stands seven feet tall and weighs half a ton in his armor.
  • His strength and endurance are unmatched by any other human.
  • With help from the Marines, you will try to stop the Covenant from destroying the Earth and the entire human race.

Gameplay

  • You play as Master Chief through four-teen large and greatly detailed levels including:

Armory

Regret

Cairo Station

Sacred Icon

Outskirts

Quarantine Zone

Metropolis

Gravemind

The Arbiter

Uprising

Oracle

High Charity

Delta Halo

The Great Journey

  • Able to play through the story mode on various levels of difficulty.
    • Easy - You will have no problem defeating the covenant since they are easy to kill and will not use much strategy against you.
    • Normal - The covenant will fight back but not with much force. Able to defeat them with some effort.
    • Heroic - The Covenant will use strategic positions to take you out. They will take much force to defeat and their shots will kill you quickly. Halo2
    • Legendary - The Covenant have never tasted defeat. They will do anything to defeat you. Their shots will kill you very quickly.
  • The Master Chief is proficient in all current ballistic weapons and tactics, and unarmed combat along with extensive experience with Covenant military tech.
  • Throughout the Story mode you are able to pick up both human and Covenant weapons as you find them.
  • Weapons
    • The weapons in this game are based in the future so there are no real replicas based off of a real gun.
    • Human weapons

Magnum

Sniper Rifle

SMG

Rocket Launcher

Battle Rifle

Fragmentation Grenade

Shotgun

Turret

o       Covenant weapons

Plasma Pistol

Energy Sword

Plasma Rifle

Plasma Grenade

Needler

Plasma Cannon (Turret)

Carbine

Sentinel Beam

Beam Rifle

Fuel Rod Cannon (only available in campaign)

Brute Shot

Halo3

  • While playing as Master Chief may be first person, whenever you enter a vehicle or operate a turret the camera angle changes and it becomes third person.
  • Vehicles
    • Both Human and Covenant

Warthog

Banshee

Scorpion

Wraith

Pelican (not pilot able)

Spectre

Ghost

Shadow (only available in campaign, cannot drive. can only be used as cover)

Phantom (not pilotable)

  • In single player and co-op modes, the vehicles have the option to carry extra soldiers, which can be placed in a gunner seat or a passenger seat.
    • Unlike the first Halo, In Halo 2 the Marines can actually drive a vehicle for you while you man the turret in the rear or shoot from the passenger seat.
  • The disappointment with the vehicles is that there were not as many as expected.
    • I know that when I bought Halo 2, I was expecting to find more variations of the Warthog than what was actually in the game.
    • There was also an ATV that the creators took out since it would tip over very easily (another disappointment).
  • Controls
    • If you are used to first person shooters that maneuvering Master Chief will not be hard at all.
    • The option menu allows you to choose from a default look or inverted.
  • You will play against all new, advanced AI who will take cover when being shot at, or even try to run you over if they are in a vehicle. Halo4
    • Although it is advanced AI, it does have a downfall.
      • In certain parts of some levels it’s almost like the Covenant doesn’t know to counter attack.
      • They may do circles if in a vehicle or if on foot they may not even attack you (At least on Normal difficulty)
  • As you play through a level on Story mode, your objectives will change as you fight your way through the level.
    • In the beginning of a level it may appear that you have only one objective, but by the end of the level you may see that you have received and performed up to four and possibly more objectives.
